If nothing goes right, go left - CUT THE CORD

Hello everybody!

I know, I have been missing for some days, but I had an exam and I wanted to get a good mark ( and I succeeded: I got 30/30).
I was very worried, because I didn't like the subject, so my brain refused to memorize what I was studying.

I received the DVDs I had ordered, but I didn't watch any of them, I bought the iPad mini 4, I planned a trip in Bologna to call over to my best friend who has been studying there since 2014 and I bumped into a very interesting trailer of a film I must watch: The Danish Girl.
This is the summary of what I have done in these latest days.

Today I would like to deal with music: yesterday I was angry and when I am angry, I listen to music to calm down. I don't listen to relaxing songs, because I could become even angrier: I listen to Rock.

Yesterday I got to know a new song: Cut The Cord by Shinedown.

The cover of the album

This song helped me: it's Hard Rock, after all. In particular, the lyrics says you don't have to give up

<<'Cause agony brings no reward
For one more hit and one last score
Don't be a casualty, cut the cord>>

That's why I love Hard Rock: it has never left me alone when I was down. Every time it was like I was embraced by an invisible force which made me stand up again and face my problems with a new attitude.

We have the "old but gold" elements, as the electric guitar which leads the melody and the voice which seems to fit perfectly with the other instuments thank to his power. But we have also a kind of "choir" of young singers who repeat the same word, "Freedom", in different parts of the song.

"Freedom" is the key to understand the lyrics, because only if we are free we can choose to overcome every kind of problem:

<<You gotta feel courage
Embrace possession
If it was easier to shatter everything that ever mattered
But it's not, because it's your obsession
Be a fighter, backbone, desire
Complicated and it stings, (but we both know what it means)
And it's time to get real and inspired>>
It's easy "to shatter everything", it's not so easy to take on what makes us suffer , but we can't be "a casualty" and escape forever

<<Hold your breath and count to ten, just count to ten, just count to ten>>

Maybe time heals all wounds, but it's much more satisfying being the one who can build his own destiny, who can fight for what he wants to achieve. It doesn't matter if you need a moment on your own to think about your situation, the important is to act to feel better, not sinking in a sea made up with the pieces of your broken heart.

Why do you want to give up, if you can win?

<<Now victory is all you need
So cultivate and plant the seed>>

Enjoy your listening

Yours, Silvia
