A gift tip

Today's post is a bit unusual, because I have never written some tips about what to buy, but yesterday I found a pretty thing on a shop in Milan and I would like to show it to you.

If you're looking for a little present for a friend who loves travelling and also writing, I suggest to buy this:

It's a little and light notebook full of drawings and quotes by famous writers about travelling which are very inspiring (here the link of the store). On the left one can write whatever he wants, while on the right there are these beautiful pencil drawings of some of the most famous monuments in the world, as the Colosseum, the Sagrada Famìlia and so on.

It's a cheap gift, but I think it is very special and unique: think about it

Bye for now

p.s. I'm writing the post about La Gazza Ladra (the thieving magpie) and the one about Krakòw, so stay tuned!

Art - Opera - Travel

Hello everybody!

This is a very busy month for me (and it's only the 13th of April!): I'm always attending my courses at university, I started to write on the blog of a theatre in Milan and especially:

1) I went to the Kandinskij exhibit at Mudec in Milan (April, 3);

2) I went to Teatro Alla Scala to see La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie), an opera semiseria (melodramma) by Gioachino Rossini (April, 7);

3) I visited Krakòw and I stayed there for four days (April, 8-11).

So I think I'll write about these three experiences in the following days:

stay tuned!

Yours, Silvia

News!

Hello everybody!

I apologise for my absence, but I'm studying for an exam and, due to the fact that, when I began to study, it was too late, now I don't have free time to write nothing.

On Friday, after the exam, I'm going to watch "Alice Through The Looking Glass" so in my next post, which I will write on Saturday/Sunday, I'll talk about this.

Stay tuned!

New post soon!

Hello everybody!

I apologise for the absence of these days, but I'm very busy because on this Friday I'm going to Portugal to see one of my friend and I'm staying there for four days.

So I feel very anxious for the preparation of the luggage, because I don't want to leave something I need at home and, also, I don't want to bring with me anything useless. I have bought a new luggage which is very light (1,7 kg) and some containers for liquid (shampoo etc...) which I haven't.

When I'll come back, I will tell you everything about this travel and I'll show you some photos of Aveiro and Lisbon.

Anyway, yesterday I finished reading a book I have read for a month while I was on the train and this afternoon I have started to write a review with my thoughts about it.

I think tomorrow I could write it here, I have to add just some other ideas. I will publish it both in English and Italian.

The title of the book is "Spring snow" (春の雪 haru no yuki) and the author is Yukio Mishima.

See you soon

A new post is coming (the Star Wars one)!

Hello everybody!

At the end, I've managed to watch all the films of the Star Wars Saga, so tomorrow I'm going to write a post about what I think of the episodes, my votes for each of them, the characters I like, the things I dislike and much more!

So, you have only to stay tuned and...

...may the force be with you! ;)

A brief summary of Easter holidays

Hello everybody!

In these days I've seen a lot of films (Asylum, The Solitude Of Prime Numbers, Shadowhunters, The Intern, Meet Joe Black, Yves Saint Laurent): in particular tomorrow I'm finishing to watch the Star Wars Saga with the Episode VI. So, I will write a post about my impressions.

I leave you here the votes of the films I've just mentioned above:
  • Asylum: 1/5
  • The Solitude Of Prime Numbers: 2/5
  • Shadowhunters: 2/5
  • The Intern: 3/5
  • Meet Joe Black: 2/5
  • Yves Saint Laurent: 3/5

I haven't forgotten to write also about The Big Bang Theory: I was waiting for the new episode, because I've read that Sheldon would reveal a secret to Amy and I was curious about this. So I hope to watch it soon.

Also, I want to tell you about my day at the theatre: in fact, on Saturday I saw the musical Notre Dame De Paris and now I sing their songs almost everyday (lol)!

So...STAY TUNED!

Yours, Silvia

New post tomorrow!

Today the Easter holiday has started, so in these days I won't be so busy as I was in the previous weeks.

I planned to see a famous musical - Notre Dame - in Milan on Saturday and I'm very excited about this! I love musicals and I'm glad I'll have the opportunity to go there, seeing the show at first hand.

I watched a film I didn't like at all some days ago, based on a book I read, "Asylum" by Patrick McGrath, which, instead, wasn't so bad. Maybe I will write about it, but I haven't already decided.

Surely, I will write a post about something I love so much, that is...The Big Bang Theory: in fact, I've finished to watch all the seasons released and I'm waiting for other episodes of the 9th season (I have also bought a t-shirt inspired by this sitcom).

Tomorrow I'm going to write a post about 'wonderment', which is the best sensation someone can feel, in my opinion.

Stay tuned!

Welcome, Spring!

Today it's the first day of Spring, so, this morning, I went outside in my garden to take some photos :)

I enjoy this time of the year because of its warm temperature and the flowers' blossoming. It is always a magical moment when little buds appear on spare trees,

when, on empty grasses, daisies and violets emerge from the earth (as the famous painter Claude Monet said, "I must have flowers, always and always").

I'm often busy, but I like walking around and breathing that fresh and perfumed air.

Everytime, a famous poem comes in my mind, "I wandered lonely as a cloud", written by William Wordsworth:
<<I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.>>

The romantic atmosphere, represented by the image of the man surrounded by the greatness of Nature, invades also the memories or, as Wordsworth said, the “emotions recollected in tranquillity”.

So, let's wander lonely as a cloud, while reading this poem and forgetting our troubles for a while, dancing in the enchanting breeze of Spring.

Bye for now

Yours, Silvia

Looking for more time

There are moments when you have so many things to do that you feel as you need more time in your life to do what you have planned.

Yesterday, for example, I went to bed very early because I was totally worn-out: these days had been full of events, from the trip in Bologna (and the rainy and cloudy weather) to a course I attended the day before yesterday and yesterday too.

Tomorrow the second part of the academic year is beginning, which means I'll learn new subjects and I will also take piano lessons again in April (I played for three years, but I stopped due to the high school): in fact, some new courses have been activated in my university.

At the end, I watched "The Danish Girl" and I can say that it is a very intense film. The main themes are love, a spiritual love, the same connection between Alan Turing and Joan Clarke in The Imitation Game, and strength.

Soon I will write a post about this beautiful and touching film.

I show you two of the photos I took in Bologna, a view from S. Luca's shrine

and S. Luca shrine itself seen from the road:

A new adventure!

Hello everybody!

Today I'm happy because I have finished all the exams (with good marks, luckily) and I've got free time to do what I want! I have bought a new book written by Bertrand Russell and I'm looking forward to reading it! It deals with religion, a subject I'm really interested in.

I'm finishing Season 3 of "The Big Bang Theory" and I can say I love this sitcom! It is funny, witty and full of sarcastic jokes.

Also I'm going to Bologna to meet my best friend and I'm coming back home on Saturday. I'm going to visit again this beautiful city, to discover new fantastic places (and to eat delicious food, of course) and I'll finally go to the cinema to watch "The Danish Girl": my expectations for it are very high, so I hope I will like it.

I will write here some news as soon as I can.

Stay tuned!!

New post soon!

Hello everybody!

I'll publish a new post soon (today I have been very busy).

I also started to watch "The Big Bang Theory" some days ago from season 1 (even if, maybe, it wasn't a good idea because I should have studied more for the Japanese exam for university).

I realised I have got a lot of things to do, especially next week (two exams and the trip in Bologna), so I'll have many things to write (after the exams, I'll be finally free!)!

Stay tuned

What's next?

Hello!!

I hope you enjoyed my previous posts and also I hope you'll like also the future posts as well.

Right now I'm writing a new short story, so I need some time to clear my mind.

When I'm confused, I often write: this helps me to change the way of seeing my problems. It's not easy, because it's not like when you decide to leave your thoughts on the pages of a secret diary: you are going to create another reality and all has to be well written, so that the reader can imagine the situation you are describing.

I'm also studying Japanese, which takes a lot of my time.

I haven't already decided what my next posts will deal with, even if I have some ideas...

...I've just seen something inspiring...

Stay tuned and, if you're curious, follow my blog! You just need a Google account!

Bye for now

Yours, Silvia.

New post soon!

Hello everybody!

I watched one of the DVDs I ordered some time ago and I'm going to write a new post soon (tomorrow, maybe? Who knows?).

It is a 2014 film and we will virtually visit France (even if the scenes have been completely filmed in England - hey, it's the power of faith!).

You won't receive any other hints so...

...stay tuned!

Bye for now

Info & Co.

I'm very happy that so many people read my posts on my blog: it means that you have interests in common with me and I'm glad to know this.

On the next days, I will receive a lot of DVDs I ordered some time ago, which means new posts about films!

Also, I don't want to stop writing about songs I like, so I will also add some posts about music

Unfortunately, the "travel" section (see "labels" on the right part of the page) could seem a bit ignored, because I don't have a lot of free time to visit new places, due to my university exams. And even the books I read are those which I have to study.

However, I will try to do my best because I love my blog and I love share my passions with others.

I add the "follow" button on the right side of the page

so you can keep abreast of new posts. If you want, you can also comment and give me some advices or tell me what you would like to read.

That's all for now, maybe I will write something later.

Thank you

Yours, Silvia

Happy New Year!

Hello everybody!

This has been a magic and unique year, full of happy moments and special people.

I discover lots of things, especially working at Expo Milano 2015, and there I also meet new friends.

I think my character changed a little and I'm satisfied of who I am now. We all can grow and get better, learning from everything that runs into our lives.

Happy 2016!

Christmas is coming!!

I don't know if you feel the same, but I love Christmas.

Everything is so special, so enchanting: in all the houses you can see the unavoidable Christmas tree, the streets are full of lights, shops try to show their best ideas for the decorations, songs echo in the cold air and people begin to feel that atmosphere full of joy.

When I see all that beautiful colours in my home, the sweet and funny faces of snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeers, penguins (and almost everything you can link with Christmas) I feel happy;

you can return to be child, feel that sense of wait and marvel before you unwrap your presents.

What is the best? No, not the presents, but the care in choosing what your friend or your family would like to receive to see their smiles, the generosity and the kindness which fill everybody's hearts.

You can't be sad, you just have to let the spirit of Christmas overpower your defenses, trying to be hopeful about the future.

I wish you a Merry Christmas.

BEWITCHED - next post soon ;)

Yesterday I was all alone at home, I should have started to study Japanese but instead I watched a film.

And I'm satisfied, now, because, after the credits, I didn't feel like I wasted my time.

I'm thinking about the last things to write and then you can read a brand new post!

The film was released last year and it is based on a biography of an important British scientist (I'm sure you have already guessed the title).

See you soon :)

Ready for a new post?

Hello everyone!

I hope you like my last post about Florence: if you want, leave me comments or write me your impressions, ideas and everything that comes in your mind :)

My next post will be about another film I saw the day before yesterday (even if I bought the dvd some time ago).

I leave you a hint: it's a famous musical which takes place in Paris.

You can try to guess if you want, it would be funny!

Bye for now

Next post is...YOU!

Hello everyone! How's it going?

After the first post, which was a brief presentation of the blog, we come to talk about the real first post, the one with a main topic and with a serious argument.

I decide to let you choose which one you would like to read, but the choice is not completely free. In fact, there are three big categories: Hobbies, Travels and Films.

Comment and tell me which one you prefer (I'm curious now ^^)!

See you soon!! :D :D

Yours, Silvia

P.S. I have a favourite one, let's see if we agree or not :) you have one week to choose.
