At the end, yesterday I didn't write anything because I was uncertain about what to deal with.
I watched Mulan II and, maybe, in the future, I will talk about my favourite Disney films.
Today, instead, I have decided to write something about the songs I have listened for most of this summer. It's the story of how my journey with Bring Me The Horizon started.
It's a bit funny, I think, because I didn't like this band before, I didn't appreciate their way of playing and singing ( I love Rock and Hard Rock, which are more melodic than Metal), so I have simply ignored them. But one day I have listened to a song which made me change my thought about them: Can You Feel My Heart (album "Sempiternal").
I really like the way this song has been realised, especially the atmopshere between Electronic and Metal, which have a dialogue during the entire song. This gives a surreal power, even when we hear the vocal part at the center of the scene, as the "calm" hiding a storm, an acerbic shout not ready enough to break the air.
Due to the fact I like this song, I decided to listen to some other songs of "Sempiternal" and I found: Sleepwalking, Shadow Moses and Seen It All Before.
The most aggressive song is Shadow Moses, with the electric guitars depicting the title and the context of the album: <<this is Sempiternal, will we ever see the end?>>
The struggles which never ends
<<I'm scared to get close and I hate being alone.
I long for that feeling to not feel at all.
The higher I get, the lower I'll sink.
I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim.>>
I long for that feeling to not feel at all.
The higher I get, the lower I'll sink.
I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim.>>
(from "Can You Feel My Heart")
The sense of grips which grows inside us
<<Your eyes are swallowing me,
Mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing.
My skin's smothering me,
Help me find a way to breathe!>>
Mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing.
My skin's smothering me,
Help me find a way to breathe!>>
(from "Sleepwalking")
The tiredness of keeping on trying something useless
<<Every second soaked in sadness
Every weekend is a war
And I'm drowning in the deja vu
We've seen it all before>>
Every weekend is a war
And I'm drowning in the deja vu
We've seen it all before>>
(from "Seen It All Before")
The feeling of anger when we think we manage to overtake something painful which, instead, is still there to torment us
<<Can you tell from the look in our eyes?
(we're going nowhere)
We live our lives like we're ready to die
(we're going nowhere)
You can run but you'll never escape
(over and over again)>>
(we're going nowhere)
We live our lives like we're ready to die
(we're going nowhere)
You can run but you'll never escape
(over and over again)>>
(from "Shadow Moses")
I have to admit that I had some prejudices toward them and I'm happy that I follow my intuition, because now they are one of the band whose songs I listen to most of my time.
“If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed.” - Marcus Aurelius
I hope you like my post and...see you soon!
Yours, Silvia
