It's not easy at all to keep on living pretending that all is ok, as
if everything can be borne. We are humans, we have emotions and even if we want
to leave aside what causes us pain, that sensation walks always beside us.
Everybody has his own way to go beyond this difficult moment: someone stays alone, thinking about the past and the lost happiness, some others prefer to speak with a friend, crying until they have no tears to shed.
We can find a refuge in a book, in a place we love, in art; it can be helpful doing what we love, even listening to a song. If you believe in God, you can take comfort, but there are things which are hard to accept in any case.
Some
days ago, I find a very beautiful song, My Dear, by Matty Mullins.
On that
days, I was a bit sad, but the lyrics reminds me that we are never
completely alone, that there is someone, not necessarily God, who is with us
even if we can't see him/her.
<<I hold your hand in every trial that you go through.
You've never been alone.
I carry you through all the highs & the lows>>
You've never been alone.
I carry you through all the highs & the lows>>
The song seems to refer to Christianity,
especially in some of the verses ("I paid the price that you could never afford. All I ask is that you trust me now and watch my plan unfold"), but I think that you can give your
free interpretation.
It is, generally, about an invisible spirit who says to us to
be strong, because we can count on him every time we are in need.
<<Hold on to me when you think you're sinking.
Run to me when it feels like you can't go on.
My dear, cry to me when life is unfair>>
Run to me when it feels like you can't go on.
My dear, cry to me when life is unfair>>
Even the music is evocative, as well as the voice of the singer: the theme is created by a synthesizer (I'm not 100% sure, I accept suggestions) and we can recognise in particular two instruments, the piano and the drums, with other electronic timbres.
I love the way the piano has been made : it seems it has also some features of the strings, so that the result is a mix of stroken strings and rubbed ones.
The beginning of the song is strong and it strikes the attention of those who are listening. Then there's the intervention of the singer, which continues the melody following the ticking of the piano.
But, as the piano, it has an implicit tenderness, given also by the lyrics itself, which is shown openly during a specific part of the song:
It's like you need a moment to understand what is the most important message of the entire song, "know that I'll always be there".
Solitude is hard to define, because it could be possible that you don't feel alone even if you are not surrounded by people.
It's a matter of what you feel, apart from the situation you are in: there is always somebody who loves you, maybe this person is far away, but this person does exist. And you have to remember that.
I want to dedicate this song to all the people who have lost someone they loved. They haven't had the time to prepare themselves for the separation (the time is never enough in certain occasions) and they have to learn quickly to be strong and brave.
As Dr. Seuss said, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".
Bye for now
Yours, Silvia

When it's too much to bare, know that I’ll always be there.
I hear you when you call my name.
I am the answer you've been searching for.
I'll be your refuge, your shelter from the storm.
I am everything you need & more>>
