"We don't have endless time" - FOR YOU

Some days ago I listened to the playlist of Spotify called "News of the Week" where you can find some songs chosen by the "system" and based on the other ones you listen to the most (I think this is how it works).

I'm always curious about getting to know new songs so, every Monday (when the playlist is updated), I open the app to check out what's new. It happens that I listen to it quickly, because I don't like the majority of the songs suggested to me, but this doesn't mean that I don't save any song.

Today, in fact, I've come across a song I saved: For You by All That Remains.

The cover of the album

The theme of the song is a tormented break up of a couple, seen from the point of view of who hopes that this relationship would not come to an end

<<Stop with the fighting
I know it's the right thing
I won't let you do this
We have to get through this>>

In the official video of the song, the protagonist is a girl who looks at her parents that are always arguing. They ignore her feelings so she tries to go away to find some peace.

It seems that she lives in two different worlds: the real one, full of sadness and pain, and the other one, represented by her playhouse, where she can fix all the problems.

I appreciate the choice of the director of the video: when I listened to this song for the first time, I thought that it was about an argument quite common and banal, even if I like the arrangement of the instruments and the voice of the singer, Philip Labonte.

In fact, the songs seems melodic at the beginning: you can hear the classical guitar alone, then the drums and the singer. Then it comes the electric guitar as the chorus gets closer.

After this, again, the melodic part followed by the one introduced by the electric guitar, just like a circle.

Passing the middle of the song, there is a variation, because the part with the electric guitar lasts a bit more than before and we can hear a guitar solo, stopped by a brief intervention of the classical guitar which seems to be like a bridge to lead us to the final chorus.

Sometimes we think that if you are arguing with somebody, the ones who are involved are only two persons, but it's not completely true, as the video shows to us.

Of course, we can't pretend to be always happy without problems, as we can't ignore them if they are present, lying to ourselves:

<<Sometimes, it's one thing
And next time, it's nothing
It's more than mistrusting
It ends up just crushing me>>

We have to be strong enough to accept the end of a relationship, trying to cause the less sufferings we can, explaining the reason of our actions:

<<I've gotta let you go
Or just find another way>>

Enjoy your listening

Yours, Silvia
