Hello everyone!
How are you?
I had a very bad day yesterday: I broke the jar of Nutella, I missed the train so I went to work late and I lost the card for the canteen.
I hope today will be a better day: fingers crossed!
Last night I saw a nice film: "Australia", directed by Baz Luhrmann, in which, as cast, we have Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
As I did the other time, I don't want to summarise the plot, but I would like to highlight the parts I appreciate the most.
There are a lot of interesting elements in this film: we have adventure,
love, different point of views of the two main character, different cultures, the fight between the good and the "evil", the theme of justice, the sense of family
and so on.
I think that in some parts the film is a little bit banal, because even at the very start you can imagine how the story will end.
Even the crudeness of war, which gives more pathos to the plot, loses his strength soon.
The scenes I love the most are the ones with Nullah and King George, two characters who represent the other side of Australia, the myths, magic, the ancient religion.
As you know, I love Anthropology and so I share the choice of the director to put this element in the film. Obviously, it is not all real, but it gives something special to the rest of the film.
I appreciate this film, due to the fact that it is like a big puzzle and I don't erase any scene, I just wanted to see more realism in some of them.
I'll leave you with a quotation: "Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be"
See you soon
Yours, Silvia
