Something special - HONESTY

Hello everybody!

I want to thank the huge number of people who read my last post about the new Star Wars film: I really appreciate it and I hope you like it.

I notice that I haven't written many posts about music, even if I spend all my time (or a large part of it) listening to music (I don't know how I could live without my dear Spotify - here a playlist I have created).

Some times ago, Spotify published the "year in music" with, among other things, the most listened song. In my case, the song was "Honesty" by Editors.

The naturalness of the drums which played with strings at the beginning of the song, the bass which gently replaces them, the beautiful voice which fills up everything. And then, all the instruments together, the guitar joins in the group and the chorus starts.

The perfect variations contributes to the melancholic atmosphere which keeps a secret strength, something that crosses your mind and soul from the inside.

Let's read some parts of the lyrics:

 <<Out of my window it echoes my heart

I've been checking for change since the start>>

  

The heart becomes the center of the scene, his pain and his desperate cry. Walking down the streets, gazing into space, loneliness and sadness go along with him. 

 <<Your bowling ball eyes have nothing to say

They knock me over again anyway>>

 

It's like we can imagine the scene: a man sitting in a pub holding a beer who is looking at a billiard table. Immediately, his memories emerge from the darkness, he hasn't already forgotten his sadness, his broken heart. And he knows this.

 

<<Collide into me, I could do with a fight

Collide into me, cause it feels right>>

This two verses has an extreme strength: a reaction is needed, we can't wait for our destiny, we have to build it. Even the chorus is powerful and inspiring:

 

<<Does the honesty deceive?
Try to find a way to leave this party
Take it out on me
Cause all the honesty
Shuts this place down>>

 

The word "honesty" repeated twice, honesty which can highlight the mistakes, which can show the truth and the inconsistency of all our beliefs.

 

Due to these things, I love this song, the fact that it is a story, full of different emotions: sadness, pain, strength, love.
