Alone or not? - SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE

Yesterday I ended up listening to the same song for the whole day: in the morning on the train, walking around the railway station, on the underground, on the way to university (not during the lessons, of course)...

Sometimes it happens to me to obsess over a particular song and, in this case, it's a song I saved on Spotify some time ago because I liked it, but I forgot putting it in the playlist of my favourite songs (silly me): Someone, Somewhere by Asking Alexandria.

I love the beginning of this song - which is also the chorus - because it is a sort of echo, a voice far away, surrounded by the sound of all the instruments, which says:

<<Even though I'm on my own
I know I'm not alone
Cause I know there's someone, somewhere
Praying that I make it home
So here's one from the heart
My life right from the start
I need a home sweet home
To call m
y own>>

These words strike you, especially if you find yourself alone, lost in your thoughts. This song could be compared with the song My Dear (click here to read my post), even if the style is totally different and so it is the atmosphere around them.

Both of them deal with solitude, but in opposite dimensions: one is connected with action, the other one with the inner being. There is, anyway, a person, a spirit to count on and this gives strength for those who feel lonely. In fact, solitude can make you think about yourself as if your condition is only sad and miserable, but it can be also the first step to learn how to feel more comfortable when you are alone.

Another important thing is to make the ones we love happy, even if they are not next to us:

<<It's hard just to be strong
Not knowing if I've done you proud
I like to imagine
You smile when you hear my songs>>

An image comes in my mind: you are walking when, suddenly, you see something which reminds you a person and then you smile automatically. I love these moments, because it's like you are living a past experience again: you are alone, but not so much, you have memories to think about, which are always with you.

Of course, I like this musical genre so I'm glad everytime I find a song which fit with my expectations.

Enjoy your listening!

Yours, Silvia
