Graphic Adventure Games

Today's post is a bit different from my previous ones, because I'm writing about videogames, in particular about the so-called graphic adventure games!!

I don't own a Play Station 4 or an X Box One (I bought the Nintendo 3DS only two days ago), so the games I play are the ones that can be found on the App Store or on Google Play.

These are some of the games I really enjoy in this period (in the past I played all the chapters of "The Room" and also "Monument Valley", but I will write a separate post about these), which are "The Silent Age" and "The Wolf Among Us"

The first chapter is free and then, after you've tried it, you can decide if you want to buy the other chapters (I payed €4.99 for The Silent Age and €14.99 for The Wolf Among Us).

In The Silent Age, you are an average man, named Joe, with a simple job who has the chance to live a unique experience: in fact, he meets a dying man who gives him a time travel device so that he can save the future of mankind.

The gameplay is captivating and the puzzles are not always easy to solve: you have to use logic and look around to find what you may need, because everything has a purpose. When you find an object, you have to think about how you can use it, for example to open a locked door. But maybe you need to find another object too in order to open it and this could include the use of the portable time travel device, because you have to remember that you have not only one "reality", but the same place in the present and in the future.

You have to solve every puzzle of the scene where you are to continue (there are no "help buttons"), because you have a precise mission, but you have to proceed step by step and solve the situation in the correct order.

Also, the music gives to the player a more immersive experience and the graphic is simple and yet evocative: while you play, you are in a silent world full of mystery, you don't know what you will find if you keep going and, above all, you are there alone. The unknown is your only travel companion.

The Wolf Among Us is a bit different: you can choose how to behave and how to lead your own story, while in The Silent Age you have to find what you need.

Here the graphic is very accurate, the settings and the characters are full of particulars: the world of The Silent Age is similar to ours, you don't need a lot of details because in that simple shapes you can recognise almost everything, but in TWAS you are in a town called Fabletown with the characters of the fables who live a "normal life" as if they are humans - by using potions called "glamour"- , so you can admire all their spelling.

You have to investigate: in fact, you are the sheriff Bigby Wolf (the Big Bad Wolf of the fable) and you have to discover the culprit of some crimes. You have to walk around, find proofs and question the people who could be involved in this crimes: as in The Walking Dead, you have the opportunity to choose what to say/to do through different options and, for example, to be "kind" or not with people who tell you lies. The way you behave changes the way others see you and they will remember your words or your actions.

Also, the gameplay is more dynamic, because you have to face battles and, to do so, you have to move your character in the right way to fight back against an enemy or to duck punches. In The Silent Age, this part is missing: TWAU, in fact, can be played only from the age of 17, while TSA is for everyone.

This is all for now; if you want, tell me in the comment if you already knew these games and if so, if you enjoyed them. I hope Telltale Games will release a new chapter of The Wolf Among Us, because I really like this kind of adventures.

My next post will be about a special shop of Milan called Ditta Guenzati, so..

stay tuned!

Bye for now

Yours, Silvia
